Ravington: The Rising Voice in Nigeria’s Alte Scene

One name that’s steadily making waves is Ravington. With a deep, rich baritone and an ear for experimental production, he crafts music that feels both intimate and boundary-pushing. His sound pulls from a mix of influences—Hip-hop, House, Disco, and Afropop—yet remains unmistakably his own, laced with a melancholic depth that has come to define his artistry.

Born Temisayo Durojaye, Ravington started his music journey in 2018 as a producer. It wasn’t until 2020 that he began recording his own vocals, and by 2021, he released his debut project, SOMETHING TO LIVE FOR, a two-pack that laid bare his struggles with depression over stripped-down instrumentals. He followed up quickly with SOMETHING TO DIE FOR, a project that reinforced his versatility and creative ambition.

Since then, Ravington has continued to carve his lane in the industry with projects like GOD BLE$$ THE TRAP and Retrograde Blues, seamlessly blending reflections on life, love, and personal struggles with his signature sound. His music is deeply emotional yet sonically adventurous, a balance that has caught the attention of Alte heavyweights like Odunsi (The Engine) and Cruel Santino.

His latest collaboration with Cruel Santino, “Gates of Heaven,” has already surpassed 100k streams, contributing to his growing 32.4k monthly listeners. Tracks like Sade, Time Flies, and Feeling Blue further showcase his ability to create music that resonates beyond the mainstream.

Ravington’s music is raw and unfiltered, carrying an authentic charm that sets him apart. His potential is undeniable. With his ability to seamlessly fuse different sounds and emotions into his music, he is proving to be an artist worth paying attention to.
