Tomi Thomas, one of the founding architects of Nigeria’s Alte movement and a core member of the seminal collective Loud On Sound (LOS), returns with his new single “How I Know” his first solo release in several years and the opening statement of a new chapter in one of Nigerian music’s most quietly significant careers.
Released through MARS “How I Know” marks the beginning of a period of sustained creative output from an artist who has spent his time away doing exactly what the music suggests, living, growing, and building something worth coming back for.
In the years since his last release, Tomi Thomas has deepened a parallel practice as a visual artist developing a body of work he describes as “light language” relocated to Ghana, and married acclaimed Ghanaian vocalist Efya in an intimate ceremony in Accra earlier this year. “How I Know” is the first music from this new era.
