If it’s your birthday today, Happy Birthday! Twenty years ago today, Innocent Idibia, professionally known as 2Baba, released his debut album, Face 2 Face which has since gone on to impact the Nigerian music scene and in turn shaped the culture of Afrobeats till this day! Prior to the release of the album, 2Face Idibia was a household name, but only as a member of the boy band, Plantashun Boiz, which Blackface and Faze were members of. However his attempt at going solo in 2004, Face 2 Face, had a successful run on the forum of Kennis Music label, which arguably was the biggest record label in Nigeria at the time.



Upon the release of Face 2 Face, its blend of afrobeat, reggae, and R&B resonated deeply with listeners, transcending genres and appealing to a wide audience. With tracks like African Queen, Nfana Ibaga, and Ole, 2Baba showcased his versatility as an artist, seamlessly switching between love, social commentary, and party anthems. This album was positively reviewed by music critics and was listed as the greatest Nigerian debut album of the 21st Century by a solo artist
