Tommy Ayorinde: Nigerian Music Executive Turning African Talent Into Global Icons

Tommy Ayorinde is a music executive, talent manager, and A&R with a deep-rooted passion for sound and storytelling. His journey began in church, where he picked up the keyboard and discovered a natural ear for music. In university, his obsession with pop culture grew so strong that he could recite the Billboard Hot 100 rankings off the top of his head.

But it wasn’t until a conversation with his uncle during industrial training that everything clicked; he realized the most fulfilling jobs are the ones you’d do for free but get paid for. That moment pushed him to take music seriously.

He started small, freelancing for student artists and collaborating with friends from secondary school. Social media, especially Twitter, became his scouting ground for new talent. His first proper industry gig came during his internship at Goje Music Distribution, where he was part of campaigns like #MadeIndependent, working with artists like Taves—now one of Nigeria’s exciting new voices.

Tommy thrives in turning abstract creative ideas into something tangible. He loves helping artists shape their vision, break rules, and build real fan connections. One of his proudest moments was signing Musta4a to Sony Music Publishing. That deal felt like a stamp of validation, not just for the artist, but for every hour spent building from the ground up. He’s also earned a distinction in his Master’s in International Music Business, which opened doors to work with some of the UK’s top music companies.

He’s big on using tech to work smarter, leaning into data analytics on platforms like Chartmetric and Spotify for Artists to spot trends and assess potential. Community is at the core of everything he does, and he’s all about crafting artist-fan campaigns that feel authentic, from Instagram Live sessions to behind-the-scenes content that keeps fans deeply invested.

When developing talent, Tommy focuses on key elements such as music production, songwriting, voice, performance, fan base, image, story, business, and team. But the story always comes first; it gives an artist identity, shapes their brand, and makes fans care beyond the music.

Today, he manages acts like Ay Lemi, mylzspectrum, and Musta4a under his agency, The Revamp Agency, where he oversees everything from A&R to branding, rollout, talent strategies, press placement, and DSP support. He’s worked with labels like Outer South, home to Sute Iwar, Tim Lyre, Raytheboffin, Keziah Mallam,  in the UK, handling marketing campaigns, artist development, and operational support across multiple platforms.

Tommy envisions Musta4a on a world tour, with a debut album out and a solid global following. Long-term, his mission is to help more African artists become global icons through intentional development, bold creativity, and a strong sense of purpose.
