The popular opinion would be, “don’t get into one,” and I see why people say it. But as I have coconut head, I say no.
Workplace relationships can be thrilling; there’s nothing like having a work babe that makes you excited to go to the office. That smile, the butterflies in your stomach whenever you cross paths—you might even step up the quality of your work in the hopes of making a good impression.
They might be your happily ever after, or it ends in premium tears, but you will never know if you don’t try.
So walk with me as I attempt to convince you and not confuse you with proven reasons why you should try office relationships.
(1) Big Boy:
The fact that you’re thinking of doing something unconventional shows you have guts.
Look at you, bad boy going against the company’s policy.
(2) Amusement:
This reason might not directly benefit you, but getting into an office relationship would ease some of the boredom.
A 9-5 is stressful enough, especially in this economy. Please give us something to gossip about.
(3) Benefits:
This depends on the position of the person you’re dating. If it’s your boss, you know it’s almost certain that by the next salary review, you’ll earn significantly more than your peers. While some people are getting a 20% increase, you could be expecting 150%. If they vex, make them go climb bed
If it’s your colleague, you could be getting gifts, food, and more.
(4) Street Cred:
Let’s be honest, no matter how hard you try to keep it a secret, someone will always find out. Regardless of how mature you try to act, this would take your street cred up a notch.
(5) An Ally:
Having someone who looks out for you is nice.
An office babe can help address some of your weaknesses, like dressing, help you improve in certain areas of your work, prep you for your presentation, etc.
(6) Fun:
Bad thing dey always sweet.
The feeling of seeing your partner in the office, especially if you get a bit naughty, is a sweet experience.
(7) Drama:
These things almost never end well. After all your couple goals during your dating period, you must serve us drama when it ends. We must witness the transition from Romeo and Juliet to trying to make each other jealous, giving subtle banter, etc.
(8) Future Partner:
If number 7 doesn’t happen, then this might. That person you spend 40 hours a week with could end up being your spouse. This might lead to one of you resigning, as some organizations do not approve of any form of relationship due to conflicts of interest.
